Is the International School of Western Australia an accredited educational institution?
ISWA is fully accredited with the Department of Education and Training WA (Office of Non-Government Schools) and also has international accreditation through the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (USA).
Does the school have any religious affiliations?
ISWA is a non-denominational co-educational school.
Where is the school located?
We are located in City Beach, Perth, Western Australia. City Beach is one of Perth’s western suburbs and located minutes from the Indian Ocean and is also within close proximity to the Perth CBD.
Does ISWA offer the International Baccalaureate Diploma program?
We have recently become IB Diploma accredited. For us, gaining accreditation reflects the extent to which the school’s curriculum has a real global focus.

What is the Advanced Placement (AP) Program?
We are the only school in Australia to offer the globally-recognised AP course. The AP is a rigorous program of credit by examination for university-level studies pursued at high school level. Students who achieve a satisfactory score on AP examinations may receive credit at most American Universities. A high number of top-level universities around the world accept AP grades in the admission process, including Perth universities UWA, Curtin University and Edith Cowan University.

What calendar does the school follow?
ISWA's academic calendar is closely aligned to a Northern Hemisphere academic calendar, with the school year beginning in late July/early August and finishing in June. The school year is broken up into four terms. The mid semester spring and autumn breaks are one week in duration. The summer and winter breaks are usually about six weeks long, allowing time for our international families to visit their country of origin.
How does the school cater for students who may not necessarily be seeking a university education?
ISWA prides itself on being a centre for learning excellence for all students, whatever their academic focus may be. The school offers a fully rounded education for each student. For those students not necessarily focused on attending university, the school offers the IB Certificate. This Certificate is also accepted by a number of American universities. The school provides each student with the opportunity to excel to his or her own potential.
Where does most of the school’s teaching staff come from?
ISWA prides itself on the wealth of experience of its teaching staff. Like the students who make up our school community, our teachers have experienced first hand the joys and challenges of living in a foreign country. A good proportion of our staff have worked at other international schools and taught the IB curriculum.
